Avon Mesmerize Eau De Cologne Spray Overpowered Me

When Sprayed on My Neck I Could Taste the Perfume

A friend of mine gave me a bottle of Avon Mesmerize Eau de Cologne Spray for Christmas. Most of my friends don't give me perfume because I have been wearing the fragrance Estee from Estee Lauder for the past 39 years, and it is delicate, lingering and my kind of perfume.

That said, I took the bottle of Mesmerize out of the package and thought that the bottle was pretty enough with the navy blue top. The size of it sat well in my hand.

I had my shower and then sprayed a little Mesmerize cologne on my neck and one of my wrists. I then rub my wrists together so the fragrance goes onto both.

Within seconds I was almost choking with the strength of the cologne. I was so glad that I hadn't sprayed the whole of my neck or both wrists as you so often see in films or on advertisements. I could actually taste the floral scent in my mouth and of course up my nose. My eyes even started to water.

On purpose I left the Mesmerize cologne on my neck and wrists to see how it performed throughout the day. After about an hour I found it bearable to my nose. I went out dancing and I am always getting compliments about my Estee perfume, but no one made a comment to me. This really confirmed what I had been thinking all along. I have a couple of girlfriend acquaintances that make me chock, when we greet each other, as their perfume or cologne is so overpowering. I have also noticed this in church on a Sunday morning. Many of the elderly ladies tend to wear either too much or a too strong cologne.

On days when I have been working and not socializing I have used a little of the Avon Mesmerize just on my wrists. I thought about giving it to a friend but I didn't want them to be obligated in accepting it or using it. Therefore I plan on giving it to a charity shop.

I checked on the Avon website for information on this cologne and it states:

"A rich, enchanting scent of jasmine, coriander and sandalwood. Perfect purse or travel size.

1 fl. oz.

Price $9.00.

Save 33%.

Now $5.99."

By purchasing online, I am not sure if there would be a shipping and handling charge. I couldn't get to that part without filling in my details and as I wasn't going to purchase the product I didn't complete the transaction.

Nice review -- I'm not an Avon "fragrance" fan either.
