Everyone has a natural biofeedback system, the FELDENKRAIS® Method teaches you how to use it.

Biofeedback is a system of monitoring yourself to notice functions that you do every day without really being aware of doing them: things like breathing and heart rate. In golf, you perform your swing without being aware of all the things you are doing at once. But your nervous system is actually tracking everything you do. It's more sensitive than any man made computer system, able to coordinate over 500 muscles to work in unison without even disturbing your thoughts. Yet, most of us have no idea how to avail ourselves of our own innate ability.

In any learning situation, you can only be conscious of a few things at once. When first learning to drive, for example, you have consciously think when to brake and when to accelerate and of the location of the controls. After you become good at it, you no longer have to think about it intentionally, but you can, if you so choose, be aware of the entire process as you do it. In other words, once you know more about what you are doing, your ability to attend to the process has expanded to encompass all of the actions at once. The difference between an excellent golfer and a mediocre one, may well be in how much of themselves and their environment they can track at once. This is a skill you can learn off the golf course.

The ability to track your weight over the balls of your feet, your balance, your alignment of hips and shoulders and your aim, as well as the flight path of the ball is a lot to pay attention to. Too much for the beginner, however, the pro does this with ease. What I teach you to improve is your ability to track all of this at once, so that you cultivate the 'feel' of the game. This is a skill that you already possess. All I do is teach you how to refine it so that your game improves much more quickly than it would otherwise. All I do, is give you simple, easy warm-up moves that improve your ability to attend to your inner and your outer game at once.
