If you would really like to make your birthday party unique, make your own birthday party favors. There is no limit to the ideas and favors you can create to complement your themed birthday party. Personalized Sun Visors
Purchase foam visors at your local craft store, or order from OTC, and personalize with each child's name. There are also small canvass bags and baseball caps that can be personalized, or decorated using party theme drawings or decals to create unique birthday party favors.
DIY Coloring Books
Find free coloring printables online. One good source for free printables is Kaboose.com. (The webpage will indicate whether copyright is waved for the purpose of making hard copies to color. Please, respect the work of the artist and adhere to copyright laws.) Using free printables, make your own coloring books to coordinate with the birthday party. If you prefer small coloring books reduce picture size by opening the pictures in Microsoft Paint and reducing their size. This allows you to create small birthday party favors that will fit easily into a goody bag.
Personalized Candy
Take the removable outer wrapper from a candy bar, like Hershey's chocolate bar. Use the dimensions to create a template in Microsoft Word or Microsoft Paint. Once you have established the dimensions for the front and back of the candy bar create a personalized message. "Happy Birthday," "Thanks for Coming to -----'s 5th Birthday," or any other appropriate saying will work nicely on your personalized candy bar birthday party favor. Replace the original exterior wrap with your personalized birthday wrap.
Get Crafty
In place of a birthday party game, have children make a small wooden craft. Craft sets can be purchased at your local Dollar Tree or hobby and craft stores for $.99 to $2.00. Simple crafts will take only minutes to put together. The children will even have time to paint their own birthday party favor. Limit paint to primary colors of washable paint. Keep the craft simple, clean, and easy.
