Product Review: Mali Flex Futon

My roommates and I were looking for a way to add some additional seating to our dorm room for guests. We decided a futon would be the best option since it is compact and would allow extra places to sleep if anyone wanted to spend the night. After shopping around, we decided to get the Mali Flex Futon in the Lime Mocha Stripe from Target for $188. We liked this futon because it looked different than many of the plain ones on the market. It has padded sides which most futons do not and comes with a couple throw pillows.

The lime mocha stripe pattern is great because it blends with nearly anything. It is mostly a tan color with some olive green and navy stripes added in. However, the colors are darker than they look in the picture online. The aluminum frame is pewter colored and looks much more expensive than many futons that come with black painted metal frames. The futon does not take up much space in our room. It comfortably seats two and with the edges folded down two people can sleep on it as well.

The cover is made out of a cotton and polyester blend so it is soft and comfy to sit on. It is also reversible so you can change it to be a solid color if you want to. The cushion is six inches thick and filled with a cotton fill. I think it is very comfortable especially because of the padded arm rests and extra pillows. The product was designed with precision tufting to prevent lumps and bumps in the filling and so far it is holding up to its claim. The frame is sturdy and does not wiggle even with two people sitting on it.

The product comes in two different boxes. One contains the cushions and the other contains the frame. It is easy to assemble even in a small dorm room.

We have gotten several compliments on this futon. I have not slept on it myself but a couple friends have and they said it was comfortable for a futon. There were no metal poles poking at them all night. I was happy to hear this because now I do not feel bad about having guests sleep here instead of giving up my bed. Overall, I am very happy with our purchase and might buy one of my own for next year.
