California Liberals on the Attack with Parents Who Home School

Being a new home schooler here in Texas for about four weeks now, it caught my attention, when someone on MySpace posted a topic regarding home schooling in California on an abortion debate board.

Upon reading the link, provided by Focus on the Family, regarding the information about the new California legal opinion, I was shocked to find out that California Home School parents may actually be required to be licensed as a teacher in the state of California in order to home school their own children.

Although the court documents state that the parent and/or person teaching the child at home must be "a person holding a valid state teacher credential for the grade being taught", there is, in actuality, no specific definition of who must teach the child written in the California Education Code itself other than "a person capable to teach." The State, in the court documents, used Education code 48220 to backup their statement that a parent must hold a teaching credential in order to home school their child. However, when examined, it is clear that no such definition exists within Education Code 48220.

This legal opinion coming out of California is no surprise regarding the fact that it is a very liberal state. So, home schoolers everywhere - beware! If this opinion sticks there is a guarantee that soon it will push through other states quickly. But, why is the California court so adamant about this opinion?

If you ever wonder how China and other countries managed to become so brainwashed, this is how it started - Education. I did much better as a homeschool student than as a public school student. I also didn't have to listen to my history teacher shove evolution down my throat anymore.(you heard me right, history teacher) Anyway, its clear why a very liberal agenda would include doing away with homeschool freedoms. We just saw an example the other day with a public school field trip that took 6 year olds to their teacher's gay wedding. This sick agenda wants to put every bit of homosexuality, evolution, and rewritten history books down every child's throat in an effort to raise a society that no longer fights against them. The Judeo-Christian foundation laid by our founding fathers is all but forgotten in schools. First they took the Bible out of school and now they are pushing to take it our of society as well. With the Bible out of the way and history forgotten there would no lo

California's decision is very confusing to me since homeschool kids score higher than those in public and private school.

I've learned here that Less is More. I step off the stump and go back to teaching.

I'm a California liberal who has home-schooled my two boys for the last 7 years. I'm not sure how having liberal political ideas relate to the desire to teach my children what info I and my wife have collected over the years. We met at UCBerkeley at Space Sciences Lab about 19 years ago. She was a technician, I was an engineer. We are both musicians. We've been having a wonderful time living with our children and teaching them, along with learning from them. I like knowing the problems they have and what they are doing to solve them. When they went to public school, I might hear something about school or how much homework there is along with the latest news about Iraq. The disconnect was very clear. It took some work to get us into the position we are in today. We don't work. We farm our land. We have had excellent SAT scores from our boys without getting any "Study for the SAT" guides. Both our boys have benefited from spending a major part of their lives with their paren
