On our way to Key West, we decided to spend a night in Key Largo which has been called the Diving Capital of the World because we wanted to do some snorkeling. We chose to stay at The Ocean Point Resort Suites in Key Largo. Rooms range from about $150 to $300 per nigh so there is something for everyone. The resort had its own parking lot which was nice compared to the on street parking we had to deal with in Key West.

The resort is beautifully landscape and the building is very welcoming. You can either choose a one or two bedroom suite. We stayed in a one bedroom and it was quite spacious and more than large enough for two people. There was a whirlpool tub in the bathroom which was a great way to relax at night. The kitchen was fully equipped so we were able to cook our own meals in there and save some money. Each room also has a private balcony with a nice view. I sat on the balcony and drank my free in-room coffee in the morning.

There are plenty of things to do around the resort. They have tennis courts which are lit and have free raquet rentals. The pool is HUGE so all the guests have their own little corner. The water is heated as well so it can be used year round. There is also a private beach which was a nice change of pace as many beaches in the area are quite busy. The resort also offers rental kayaks so you can take off on a water adventure right from the docks.

I spent quite a bit of time down at the beach. It is very private and there is a small cove which is protected by mangrove trees. Wildlife seems to like the area since it was so protected. This created some great snorkeling opportunities. We even joined in on a pick up volleyball game right on the beach.

The resort is also located near many of the attractions in Key Largo. It offers packages with several of the different attractions. For example, you can rent a room and have reservations for reef snorkeling, parasailing, SCUBA diving, or deep sea fishing trips. We did the snorkeling package and it was great that the price was discounted and we didn't have to make our own reservations.
