I needed more minutes with my cell phone company so I went to the local mall to inquire. They had a special promotion, which gave me a free Samsung SGH-t319 phone, 1,000 anytime minutes, and unlimited nights and weekends all for $39.99 and a two-year contract. I thought this to be a great deal so I signed up. The guy in the store removed my SIM card for me and put it into my new phone.

I thanked him and couldn't wait to try my new phone out. I came home and found out that the phone was fully charged. I flipped it open and was pleased to see that the screen is a pale gray color which is easy to read. The top of the screen has the strength of the signal and the charge in the battery. At the bottom of the screen are the soft key options which are menu and t-zones.

I wanted to make a phone call so I pressed menu and this brought up 9 boxes with pictures of the options. I then found phone book and clicked through until I found my home number. I phoned it and Len picked it up. Next Len phoned me and I didn't particularly like the music it played so I located settings, and then sound settings to get into ring tones. I listen to all of them and found one I liked.

I wanted to delete some old phone number and put new ones into the phone. What I love about this phone is the numbers are so large. I wear glasses all the time and could read them without my glasses on. Entering names and numbers was a breeze.

This phone has a camera so I wanted to try that out. I went into fun and apps, then camera, and option 1, take and send. This brings the screen to take photographs. I have taken a few of my husband and friends. The only thing I didn't like is that there is a charge for sending and storing them on my laptop. Unless I get a spectacular photograph and something extremely unusual I will save my money.

As with all of the latest phones this comes with a thick user guide of 178 pages. It lists how to use the functions, menu navigation, entering text, understanding your phone book, messaging, changing your settings, fun and apps, camera, t-zones, health and safety information and the standard limited warranty for 1 year.

There was a one time $18 fee for upgrading the phone so my first bill was for $68 including 5 lots of different taxes on it. Next time it should be around $47-$48.

Wait a minute? There's a CHARGE for putting photos on your laptop? Doesn't the camera come with a cable that you just plug into your laptop and upload? Weird - all of this stuff is free here in Thailand.

I forget that you have to buy contracts for phones in the US. Here in Thailand, you just buy a SIM card, which costs $5 and that signs you up for a company (with NO contract). You also only pay for OUTGOING calls and not INCOMING calls. The US is a ripoff for cell phone charges, you get charged twice per phone call - the person calling pays and the person receiving pays. Crazy. Oh and cell phones are cheaper here in Thailand too :-) Good job on this!

Sounds like a great phone, but I am not sure about T-Mobile. I have not heard great things about them. I need a new phone.
