As you may know, The Sims 2 Expansion Pack FreeTime just came out on February 28, 2008. I have played it for a good while now and have gotten to know the expansion pack pretty well. And I have to tell you, it's pretty great. The Sims 2 FreeTime adds a lot more depth to the sims and the game play. Here is a list of two of the best added features to FreeTime and my review of them.

The Sims 2 FreeTime Review: Hobbies

Of course, the best thing about the new Sims 2 FreeTime expansion pack is the hobbies you can make your sims play around with. There are a number of specific interests, or hobbies, your sims can have. These interests include Cuisine - cooking, Tinkering - playing around with cars and other mechanical things, Arts & Crafts, Fitness, Music & Dance, Sports, Games, Science, Nature, Film & Literature, Each sim is born with a natural talent, which means that they learn that hobby faster and enjoy it more.

The great thing about the hobbies is that a add another dimension to your character. If a sim has a natural talent in Arts & Crafts, they will want to paint and make pottery. The more sims are skilled in their hobby, the more they can do with it. They will learn to blog about their hobby, browse the web about their hobby, and talk to others about it.

Hobbies give the players of the game more things to do with their sims during their freetime, hence the name The Sims 2: FreeTime.

The Sims 2 FreeTime Review: Life Time Aspiration Meter

The Sims 2 FreeTime expansion pack also added a new feature called the life time aspiration meter. This is another small meter that tracks how overall happy your sim is. The wants you fulfill on a daily basis, the higher the sims meter will be. At the end of every week, the sims will tell you how happy, or not so happy, their week was.

This is a fun new feature from FreeTime because it adds more reality to the game. People in real life are not just happy in the moment- they are happy overall, as well. This meter adds that aspect. It also is another reason to keep fulfilling wants. And since hobbies occur as wants very often, it is easy to do double duty by enjoying a hobby and filling your aspiration meter.
