In this article I offer a simplification to the complex and imposing task of "Decision Making". This is important and should not be dismissed or minimized. Decision making applies to almost every aspect of our lives and has a profound effect on our lives. It is fraught with peril for making life changing mistakes, in a world of many difficult choices

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a reliable process to call on when making important decisions?

Decision making is a process. The process should reduce uncertainty and doubt about alternatives. It should provide an informed choice from among the alternatives based on criteria defined by the decision maker.

We need a process that gives us confidence in our decisions and minimizes second guessing ourselves later. The words "process" and "decision making" may conjure up fears of complexity, confusion, stress, uncertainty and intimidation. The reality is, a sound decision making process can be the thing that removes these fears.

On the surface it seems impossible to incorporate such a process in our everyday real time life. It has to be reduced to some very obvious and usable practices that one can assimilate such that they become truly second nature. If that is possible, the end result will be an astonishing improvement in decision making, with huge benefits. The resultant improvement in ones quality of life and satisfaction with life are hard to overemphasize, No Kidding!

We can choose to not be prepared and thoughtful about this process and just "let it happen", but there is a significant penalty to be paid if we do so. The reality is that it's very easy to be prepared and thoughtful about this process, we just need to recognize the need and significance of this process together with a few mechanics to get it done. The process does not have to increase the time to make a decision, in fact a good process should decrease the time for decision making.
