Antique quilts are perfect to use in many different craft projects and home improvement projects around the house. I always come across great antique quilts. I have so many and I hate storing them away. These ideas will get your antique quilts out of storage and have them on display around the house. Some of these ideas are also great for antique quilts that may possibly have some damage on them.

1. Chair slipcover – This is the perfect use for an antique quilt that has some damage on it. You can use the good areas to cut our your pattern and avoid any damaged areas. This is also a good project made out of a new store bought quilt.

2. Pillow shams – These are simple to make, you and simply sewing four sides in a straight line. You could even use No Sew for a project like this. Lay your pillow out on your antique quilt, trace with a marker, and then cut it out. Sew the edges together. Leave one end open to slide your pillow in. This is another great project for a quilt that is not in 100% perfect condition.

3. Curtains – You can hang your antique quilts without causing any damage to them for this project if you will use curtain clips. If you are worried about the prongs of the clips digging into your antique quilt place a small piece of felt in between your quilt and the clip.

4. Shower curtain – This is a great way to warm up a small sterile bathroom. Use those curtain clips again, the kind that come attached to a ring. Hang your rings on the shower rod and you will have a designer look in your bathroom.

5. Purse – Use a vintage pattern for a pocket book or purse. Instead of buying material use an old quilt. The look is utterly Grandma Chic and never goes out of style. Line the inside with a contrasting fabric for some extra fun.

6. Beach bag or book bag – Simply cut out to pieces of 14”X20” pieces from your old quilt. Hem one end of each piece of the fabric, sew the other three sides together and add one some handles. Easy!
