up to $5,500 per hour for meeting with Spitzer.

He made a statement just a few hours after the New York Times broke the news. It is reported that he told his Senior Administration officials that he had in fact been involved in a prostitution ring before making a statement to the people of the state of New York.

On Monday, Spitzer said that he "acted in way that violates his obligation to his family." But he did not elaborate, or allow members of the press to ask any questions. "I apologize first and most importantly to my family. I apologize to the public, to whom I promised better, I am disappointed that I failed to live up to the standard I expected of myself," he said. His wife stood by his side as the governor of New York dropped this bombshell of news. The entire time he spoke her eyes were cast to the floor, as if to say that she was embarrassed for her husbands actions. Of course in politics it seems that the woman always has to give a little camera time to show that she stands by her law breaking husband.

CNN is reporting that three Democratic sources told them that Spitzer will be resigning. But at the conference when asked if he would be resigning the governor did not respond or state what his plans would be. Though the Republican Governors Association has called on Spitzer to resign from his position. And it does appear that he will in fact step down as Governor of the state. Spitzer had served as New York's Attorney General for 8 years before he was elected as governor, and was known for prosecuting several prostitution rings. Now it seems that he was getting rid of the competition as opposed to really helping the city.
