Drunkorexia is a Problem

In our society, alcohol is constantly used in order to enhance a night with friends. Alcohol is highly emphasized in our society, but exercise and weight loss receives the same amount of emphasis. This is why the idea of drunkorexia, a new term, which describes an individual who is combining alcohol and anorexia, in order to consume alcohol without gaining weight, is alive in our society. An individual simply does not eat a meal and replaces those uneaten calories with an alcoholic beverage. This has been an issue for years, ever since individuals have figured out that the more calories one intakes versus expends, will result in weight gain. Knowing that alcohol is usually one hundred calories per drink, one can determine, if they consume six to ten drinks a night, instead of eating six hundred to one thousand calories through food, one can simply intake the uneaten calories through alcohol.
This is something I realized I did, now looking back, but at the time, did not realize I was doing. I do not have a drinking problem, nor do I have an eating disorder, but at one time, I believe I had an eating disorder or obsession, which led to this behavior. For a two-year period I exercised constantly, the amount of work I put into exercising did pay off, but the constant worry of when I eat this, I am intaking this many calories, was occurring every time I would eat and would cause me a great deal of stress.
When I knew there was a party or I was going out to drink for the night, I would simply eat a two hundred calories protein bar instead of a normal dinner, knowing I was going to intake a large amount of calories through alcohol. I repeated this behavior many of times, simply believing I was keeping a strict hold on my calorie intake, in order to not put on weight. It was as if what I was doing was a positive, proving how strong of a hold I had on my nutrition. That idea is where the problem is.
