Movies. I don't know too many people who don't love to watch them. What is the big thrill of seeing a movie? Perhaps it's to gain another perspective on life. Maybe you watch movies to learn something, like a documentary about penguines. Or, you might be one who enjoys action and adventure, so you watch movies to dream about where you'd rather be right now.

For me, I like to watch movies for many reasons, but one is because of some great movie quotes. Once you hear something incredible in a movie, it becomes part of you and you never forget it. It's recalled years later and makes the movie stand still in time.

What are my ten favorite movie quotes and why?

1. Daniel Day Lewis (Hawkeye) in Last of the Mohicans, who said "No matter how far, I will find you..." In this setting, Daniel Day Lewis was in love with Madeline Stowe, and they were about to be separated by the Indians who had just captured them. He had come up with a plan to reunite them.

This statement has to be the most romantic I have ever heard, ever! Why? He was basically saying that no matter what sought to keep them apart, that he would somehow get back to her. How many guys do you know who would go through anything to be with the woman they love? I can't think of a better quote than this.

2. Madeline Stowe in Last of the Mohicans had an incredible quote. I don't remember it exactly, but it was close to this, "I would rather make a huge mistake than surrender my dignity." She was talking to the man who wanted to marry her, who she had just heard say something she didn't believe in. It changed her whole viewpoint on him. She decided then and there that she could not marry him, and told him this. She was basically saying in the quote that she would rather make a mistake in her decision not to marry him than to give up everything she believed in and be with him.

Why this quote is meaningful to me is that I truly believe that you only are what you stand for, and what actions you take in life. If you don't have your word, and you don't stand for what you believe in, what do you really have? This is very important to me.
