Everyone has a movie they claim as their favorite and know just about all if not all of the lines. There are some movies that have lines that make a difference and really mean something to each person that is watching it. Some people carry a line from a movie wherever they go, and other times the line for a movie is used to the point where people get annoyed with it (i.e., "Do I make you horny, baby?" from the Austin Powers movies). Some of the movies with the greatest lines are the movies that very few people have heard of or seen. One of the best movies with memorable and wonderful lines happens to also be a play, and not just any play, but a Shakespearean play. A Midsummer Night's Dream is just one of the best of Shakespeare's plays that have been made into movies. The actors make the words come off the screen and make you truly wonder what Shakespeare meant when he was writing the play. This movie/play is full of lines about love and what love should be like.
We cannot fight for love as men may do, we shall be wooed and were not made to woo.
In the movie/play Helena says this as Demetrius leaves the scene. It is perhaps one of the most powerful lines of the whole piece. What this line means to me is that women cannot fight the way a man can for love. We cannot woo guys and men should be working to show us they love us because it's rather easy for women to express how we feel towards the ones we love whether it's a romantic love or not. We cannot woo a man, many times if we try it just pushes them farther away from us as Helena's actions show.
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind.
This line to me is a very powerful one as well. It makes you think about love and why you love a person. Attraction simply isn't everything in a relationship no matter what other people may say. Yes it has its importance, but it's other things that make a relationship work, and makes one fall in love with another. Things like personality, outlook on life, sense of humor and so much more are what makes love worth while. Outer appearances, the things you see isn't everything and isn't what keeps love going. It's everything else.
For you in my respect are all the world
