The first step in making your own vintage jewelry box is deciding upon the size. You can even if desired purchase a store bought jewelry box and cover it the same as one you make yourself. The easiest way to make your own jewelry box is to cut the four sides, bottom, and top out of plywood and by a set of hinges to attach the door. Use wood glue to assemble the four sides to the bottom and then attach the hinges with small screws on the inside where they cannot be seen when the jewelry box is closed. Make sure you measure out the pieces properly and then measure from inside to inside if you would like to add different compartments to your box. Once you have a basic jewelry box, whether it is one you make or a store bought one, you are ready to begin adding the vintage touch to your vintage jewelry box.
