I know what you're thinking: I have to make a choice between my social life and doing well in school. You may think that September and the start of another semester means saying goodbye to parties and free time, but it's just not true. The trick is knowing where to cut corners and when to just suck it up and study. As a double communications major (print journalism and electronic media) with minors in sociology and marketing with a part time job on the side, a boyfriend, a bustling social life that includes going out usually two nights a week PLUS being managing editor of the school paper and freelance writing all while taking at least 12 credits a semester, you can trust that I know what it's like to be busy. Really busy.
However, you'll notice that part of my business is going out with my friends and spending time with my boyfriend, not to mention my family. It's necessary. You need down time, whether it's time with friends or time alone to just watch TV. Here's some tips on how to fit it all in:
1. KEEP A PLANNER! If I lost my planner, my life would be a mess. If you're going to be busy, write it all down. Homework assignments, class times, work times - even plans with friends. Writing it all down is the best way to not forget anything and end up rushing around last minute because you forgot to do your calculus or kicking yourself because you forgot a friend's birthday. As often as possible, consult your planner before you make more plans or schedule appointments or meetings.
