eBay has become the worlds largest "free" market. If you want to buy something, chances are, you can find it on eBay. While you can sell almost anything on the online auction site, sometimes, it may not seem worth it after the listing fees and percentages eBay takes off of the final selling price. But as a seller, there are ways to maximize the profit you make off of each and every item. In a world that runs on money, even a few extra dollars can make a world of difference. Here are some tips everyone can use to maximize the money they can make off of eBay. Start bids at a lower price.
Ebay used a simple pricing chart when determining what Insertion Fee they will charge when listing an item. Items starting at under $0.99 will be charged a $0.20 Insertion fee. $1.00-$9.99 items get a $0.40 charge, and the fees keep rising after that in a similar pattern. Keeping this in mind, you can often save 40 cents to a dollar buy starting your bid at a lower price. Chances are, the bidding will reach the level you wanted to sell your item at anyway, so starting the bid at anywhere from $.01 to a dollar should be no problem. For sparse eBay sellers, the difference in prophet with by doing this may seem minuscule, but the cents add up to a lot more as you begin putting more items up for auction.
Make auction titles with maximum searchability.
An item won't sell for very much unless people can find it. Keeping this is mind, make sure everything you put up for sale is easily findeable by a variety of search keywords. If you are selling a DVD, make sure the title of the DVD is correct and make sure the letters DVD are in the auction title. Also, adding any other bit of info that people could be searching for will help a lot. If you are selling a video game, make sure both the name of the system you are selling the game for, the acronym of said system, and the name of the developer or publisher of the game is in the title. This makes sure that no matter what someone searches for on eBay, if it is related to your product even vaguely, it will show up on their results. The more people that see your auction, the higher the money bids, and the bigger the profit.
Use shipping costs to your advantage.
