Oh that John McCain! What a character he is. The Maverick Republican leading the insurrection against George Bush on the issue of torture. Not so fast, Fanny. A compromise was reached that would allow the White House and Congressional Republicans to once again be in goosestep with each other just in time for the elections. (Enjoying those low gas prices, by the way? Just remember, they are scheduled to start going back up the Wednesday after Election Day.)

Yes, that maverick John McCain was at the forefront of the movement to stop Pres. Bush from doing the unthinkable: rewriting international laws that would have been a one way ticket to tortureville for any American unlucky enough to get caught up in Bush’s personal crusade to put the lives of every American at risk in every foreign country across the globe. Thank God for the maverick efforts of John McCain and Lindsey (A Sex Crime is an Impeachable Offense, but Lord Knows Lying to the American Public in Order to Get Support for a War Isn’t) Graham to put a stop to this madness.

Just in case you didn’t hear: The compromise agreement reached between Bush and McCain is viewed by most legal experts as containing the exact same problems with legalities that got Bush’s original torture program tossed out on its hairy, yellow butt in the courts.

John McCain: Maverick…or a man who wears lipstick made from the feces of George W. Bush?

You decide.

John McCain blew any credibility with his "Maverick" stance, and now realizes that to get anywhere in today's republican party, it is required to bow to the religious right, and to go extreme...
