A Single Girl's Guide: Buying a Car

Buying a car is such a huge investment that the first thing many single women do is run to their Dad, or the most significant man in their life, for assistance. Next time, don't do it!

You are an independent woman who is perfectly capable of buying her own car! Sure, car sales people can be really intimidating, but there are ways to get around their sneaky games and gimmicks. You just have to be prepared!

First, be sure that you go to the car lot, with NO intention on buying a car. When you go with the intention of buying a car that day, you will likely get pulled into a deal that may not be good for you. If you do see something you like, ALWAYS give yourself a full 24 hours or more to think about it before you buy! People who buy on impulse, without giving themselves the appropriate amount of time to think large purchases over, often regret them later on.

Second, be sure you do your research before buying a car. If you can narrow it down to that classic Camry or to that sporty Explorer, you will be a lot better off. You will also save time if you only look for a few specific models. Be sure to know how much cars of your choice typically sell for in your area too!

Third, try to talk with a female salesperson. Yeah…yeah…this might sound sexist, but who cares?! Female salespeople will be able to relate and understand your needs a little more, which is why asking for one is not a big deal. Any man who has a problem with it, shouldn't be working with you anyway! Finally, shop around! You should be prepared to negotiate and know what other car lots are offering for similar cars.

You would fight over that extra 20% off at your favorite clothing store, so be sure you would do that for your car purchase too! And, every female knows that whether you have a man in tow or not, women can always find the best sales. It is just in the female genetic code! Just because you are a woman, doesn't mean you can't find a great deal on anything, including an automobile.
