Cheetahs have been worshiped since ancient times, and were even used as a hunting companion. However, it was their beautiful coats that endangered them. Over the last century the world's populations of cheetahs have declined to such low numbers, that today only a few small pockets of the world's fastest land animal still exist. If you want to help save the Cheetahs from extinction and gain valuable life and/or college credit then consider signing up for one of these programs.

Your first option for working in the field with the Cheetah Conservation Fund is to work with EarthWatch. This organization will take you to Namibia where you will work with Dr. Laurie Marker studying these remarkable animals. Your home base on this expedition will be Eland's Joy, which is a huge 15,000 ha farm and which is also, consequently, the headquarters for CCF. Some of the responsibilities that you will have on your adventure include: collecting biomedical samples, observing cheetah behavior, studying the local cheetah populations and habitat and helping out on the farm. Side trips also planned during this expedition include a trip to the Etosha National Park.

The Cheetah Expedition accepts 12 different research teams a year, with each team being made up of about 6 people. The expedition lasts 15 days and costs about $3,846 per person plus airfare. This covers your food, lodging, education and entertainment.
