How to Make Amateur Pornography

Expenses, Setting a Budget, Hiring Stars and More

If you have read my first article, 'What Really Goes into Making Pornography: A Not-so-Fun Job with a Big Pay Day', you realize the working condition that you will have to endure as well as the incredibly lucrative opportunity at hand. If you are still considering making pornography,
here’s how you can get started.

Making your first movie is no different than any other business venture. You will need to produce a quality product and market it. Remember that there’s lots of competition – internet sites, VHS tapes, DVD’s, etc that your product must have a “demand”. So find a niche market and stick to it.

Making an amateur production requires more than just a cheap camcorder (think One Night in Paris). Producing a real, quality porno requires thorough planning and preparation or else you will end up with a total flop in more ways than one (Me: read into this!)

You will need to begin planning for you movie by determining a plot…a good plot. A cheesy outline will end up giving you a cheesy result which will eventually lead to absolutely no money in your pocket and a total embarrassment of a production. Your plot will have everything to do with your title and ultimately, your marketing, so chose wisely! And a word to the wise – make sure your idea doesn’t already exist…i.e : Debbie Does Dallas. So examine the market. Look at what is selling and whats not. Stick to what works. Avoid being too adventurous for your first film.

Also, don’t go out on a limb. Meaning, if you have never dealt with S&M, don’t start now. People purchasing your movie will be quickly disappointed if you clearly show that you have no clue what you are doing. The pornography business gets just as many “reads” as lets say, Amazon.com, so a bad review will quickly destroy you.
