From high school to army fatigues,
They got called to join the leagues.
In training they learned to use a gun,
And go through jungles at a run.
As some kissed their mother's good-bye,
Others left their sweethearts and tried not to cry.
On the plane, they watched in fear,
As the shores of Viet-Nam began to appear.
Soon they were sleeping on the ground,
As the enemy fired another round.
One by one the lives were lost.
No one dreamed of such a cost.
They carried guns, but could seldom fire,
As they walked or crawled through the mire.
Then one day it was over and done.
So many lives were lost, but who had won?
God bless the ones who gave their lives,
And left behind parents, children and wives.
May this atrocity never happen again.
I pray the Viet-Nam war, someday we can amend.
