Regarded by some as the greatest classical composer of all time, Johann Sebastian Bach is a giant in the classical music universe, shining brightly through the ages with glorious music that has inspired generations. The pinnacle of his works are generally thought to be his compositions for his beloved organ, his playing of which was masterful.

Unsurprisingly, Bach was born into a musical family where he, at a young he age, mastered the organ and violin and was also an excellent vocalist. His outstanding ability for playing music soon turned to composition as Bach penned literally hundreds of pieces both for solo piano performance and for orchestra. Bach created some wonderful concertos, the most famous being his Brandenburg Concerto which was composed for the Duke of Brandenburg.

Johann Sebastian Bach was a devout Lutheran in his home in Germany, and this is demonstrated in many of the sacred works he produced, much of this a requirement of his employ within the church. Some of this music is among the most popular among the works produced by Bach in the eyes of his fans. His religious compositions numbered well over two hundred, an indication of his prolific ability.

In spite of the fact that he lived a troubled life at times, Bach was still able to produce quality compositions that place him among the greatest ever to grace the classical music world.
Losing one of his wives suddenly in death and losing his eyesight as a result of an unsuccessful operation, did not diminish the power of the music Bach was able to create.

He was not a traveler like some of the other composers of his day, in fact at no time in his life did he ever leave Germany.
His music however, has become universally appreciated as part of a legacy enjoyed by generations following his death in 1750.
