On the trail of life there are certain obstacles that can stand in the way of someone who is trying to make something of his/her life.

It could be that immediate family member with a bad illegal substance or alcohol abuse habit, or someone else in the same circle who is engaged in some form of corruption or the other.

And lately, when it comes to the matter of this year's US presidential elections, certain individuals have said things that caused a stir in the public's view of them.

This usually resulted in those individuals' ultimate resignation from the respective campaign they were trying to help gain support for. Samantha Power from the Barack Obama camp, for instance, submitted her resignation after uttering that ‘Hillary is a monster.'

And most recently, Clinton supporter, Geraldine Ferraro also resigned after saying that ‘Barack Obama would not be where he is if he were a white male.' It's enough to make an observer wonder why certain individuals just don't keep quiet if what they are about to utter to the public will cause a stir in an already sensitive elections year.

It has been a sensitive issue because of the race factor. For the first time in American history, a black man is running for the highest office in the land.

And as hard as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are trying to run a clean and race issue free campaign, a few of the persons in their camps obviously thought otherwise.

Some people just need to sit back and heed the wise words once uttered by their mothers: ‘If you have nothing good to say about someone, then say nothing.'

For sensitive issues may come and go, but what matters are those one hurts along the way while he/she was busy uttering whatever he/she thought may have felt good at the time.

Very intelligent thought at that, "If you have nothing good to say about someone, and then say nothing" Yes dear writer, this is true not only in politics but also in every field. The Bible says, "The Tongue Is a Fire" In James chapter 3 We read like this.... The tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. Behold, how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell. (Verses 5-6)

Judy, I hope you're right in that overall both campaigns want a clean contest. Unfortunately, politics and the quest for power can bring out the ugliness in people.
