Product Review: Cypress Adirondack Swing

Outdoor swings are a great form of seat that can allow adults enjoy being outside and the swinging motion they used to love as kids. The Cypress Adirondack Swing for $369 from Target.com is an elegant product that would look great in any backyard.

I purchased one of these two years ago to replace an old set of chairs that we had on the lawn. The swing is styled beautifully to look like the famous Adirondack chairs. Since we live about 30 miles from the base of the Adirondack Park, we figured this would be an appropriate look for the area.

The seats are contoured so even though they are made out of wood they are still very comfortable. I have no problem sitting here for an hour while I read. There is a shelf on each side of the double seat which is great for holding odds and ends. I often put my coffee on one while I read the newspaper in the morning. I love that I can now do this routine outside instead of being in my kitchen. Warm weather doesn't last very long up north so it is good to enjoy it while it is around.

The swing is made out of cypress wood which is very distinctive and durable. Ours has weathered two winters and shows no signs of rot or breakage. There is stainless steel hardware hold the product together which has also not rusted or worn. The swing is very sturdy and can easily support two full grown adults swinging on it. The cypress wood has been left unfinished so you can choose to do whatever you would like with it. The wood can be left unfinished and it will weather to a light grey color. It can also be stained or painted. We decided to stain the wood to help protect it from the snow and ice of our winters and to help prevent slivers. We stained it a light oak color and the swing looks great.

This swing has been great for our family. My husband and I now have a comfortable place to sit outside so we spend more time outdoors watching the kids play. They are old enough that they do not need us to do this but it is nice to have extra family time. I am very pleased with the way the product has held up to the weather in the northeast and think it will be around for a long time.
