Eliot Spitzer, now former Governor of the state of New York, swept into office, first as New York's Attorney General, the Head law enforcement official in the state, then Governor. Spitzer did so on the strength of his racket-busting credentials and reputation as "Mr. Clean". So much for that.

Four Presidents have ascended to the Presidency of the United States from the New York Governor's chair. Martin Van Buren, the 8th President, even held both of the elected offices, Attorney General and Governor of New York, that Eliot Spitzer was elected to.

There were indications that Eliot Spitzer had Presidential aspirations, also. Good luck with that, Eliot. Spitzer had been described as the "future of the Democratic Party". The Republicans surely aren't that lucky. Wait, the President of the last 7 years...

When Eliot Spitzer was investigated for suspicious financial transactions, the sting revealed not the bribes or kickbacks authorities suspected, but, well, unless you've been hiding in a cave without TV or Internet access, you know the story by now. The sordid tale of the Emperor's Club VIP prostitution ring.

And like Hans Christian Andersen's The Emperor's New Clothes, the Emperor in this tale "has no clothes". Or at least, Eliot Spitzer's clothes were left on the floor of some swank Washington D.C. Hotel room. Client #9, as Eliot Spitzer was known in the records of the ring, is known to have spent at least $80,000 on prostitutes in the last 10 years, documents reveal. I guess "getting serviced" was Spitzer's idea of pubic, I mean public service.

I can't wait to hear what Spitzer's spin doctors have to use as an excuse for this. Jon Lovitz used to do a character on Saturday Night Live in which Lovitz would tell a whopper like referring to "my wife, Morgan Fairchild". Then Lovitz would dissemble and tell another lie, then say "yeah, that's the ticket".

I just want to say up front, I don't know Gov. Spitzer, in fact I've never voted for him either. That said, these are my thoughts: Amid all the 'schadenfreude' over Governor Spitzer's wrongful behavior, no one seems to be considering whether or not the man might legitimately be a victim of sexual addiction. My use of the phrase: 'Wrongful behavior' in no way is meant to mitigate the illegality of what he has done nor is it intended to allow the Governor to skate on the charges facing him. However, to my knowledge, no one in the media has even considered this possibility. It may be asked, why should you or anyone bother to take the time? The reasoning behind this speculation is based on the view that there seems to be little other explanation as to why a person with so much going for them would continually risk it all, while knowing only too well the consequences? All I am saying is that in the interest of American Fair Play, when you look upon the Governor, consider th
