The ideal guest is the one that promptly responds to your call or e-mail, sends back the RSVP card immediately, and shows up at the party on time. However, the ideal guest is far from the norm; today it’s hard for many hostesses to get the accurate head count for the upcoming party until the day of the event! With bevy of online services offer some great features and benefits beyond the traditional paper invitation. If you’re looking for something creative, and the event isn’t too formal, an online invitation is a great way to get accurate guest counts, keep people updated, and stay in touch with e-mail conveniently and easily!

Although Evite.com is one of the earliest web-based invitation developments, newer sites offer the value of tracking and distributing announcement easily. Sendomatic.com is a great resource for personal events that is advertisement-free (no pesky popups!). Sendomatic.com lets you create a customized template for your invitation and offers many creative graphics. You can also upload your own logos or graphics if you need to, and add interactive maps and weather reports for your venue. The nice feature of Sendomatic.com is the ability to change details of the event in real-time, and send out updates or messages to all of your guests in one place. You can manage your address book and guest logs directly on the site, so it serves as a platform for your guest round-up from start to finish.

CorpNote.com is a comprehensive site that offers the best of both worlds for businesses and personal. A low-fee membership lets you create e-cards, invitations, and even printed greeting cards if you need to; since you get to create the messages and unique graphics, it’s a fun tool to make a customized piece. The site also lets you track responses, and fill out an attendance report for future reference on your event. Since it is Outlook-compatible, importing your e-mail address book makes it easy and efficient to correspond with your guests immediately.
