Is the Media the Prostitute Making Millions?

Listening to the media you would think hey, being a prostitute like "Kirsten" is fine and dandy. Get involved with a married, important figure and wow, the money starts rolling in. The message from the media? Be a Prostitute and make millions!

Where's the stigma of being a prostitute? The media likes to use "high paid call girl" on occasion. Is that to soften the blow? The amount of pictures, videos and song snippets would lead you to believe that we are talking about a movie star, not a prostitute. 

What message does this give young women? What if you are a young girl, sitting in a small town or living the life of hard knocks? You watch this story on TV and see a young girl who wanted to be a singer. Instead, she ends up being a call girl. She lives in a $1,000.00 + apartment, has nice sexy clothes and rich clients. Hey, it's only sex, right? And look at all the "goodies" that come wrapped up in a bow.

Well girls, its not glamorous to be pimped out to men. And call girl is just another name for prostitute. The same dangers of sexually transmitted disease, physical and sexual abuse are all there waiting for you. And what makes you think YOU will be the one to be the pricey babe in the apartment? You are more likely to be the gal on the corner.

The media paints this story too nicely, too neat, too inviting for young women. The fact is, being a prostitute for a living can 1.) make you a young corpse 2.) give you a higher than average chance to be an alcoholic or drug abuser 3.) make you old before your time 4.) can end up with you contracting sexually transmitted diseases 5.) make you feel so bad about yourself that you are in danger of committing suicide.

You are also at the whim of your pimp. Make millions. For who? The media has glamorized this story. It doesn't delve in to the dirty truths about being a prostitute. The media owes the young women and boys more than this puffed up piece. I am tempted to say the the media is being a prostitute and making millions off of stories like this.

No one knows what's inside "Kirsten's" head. No one knows where she will end up when the story has died down. Be a prostitute and make millions. Don't fall for the media's take on this.
