Presto Electric Salad Shooter Slicer/Shredder: Review
Presto Electric Salad Shooter is so easy to use when compared with my older tool that it really motivates me to make more fresh salad and I making best use of this gift. My friend who knew about my trouble shooter salad shooter presented me this on my birthday and it actually comes for
$34. Though I have an advanced food processor at home, now days I use this mainly because the Presto Salad Shooter requires minimal assembling and it is easy to clean. Accepted that it cannot take all the veggies alike and it is not a heavy duty gadget like the food processor, but its simplicity and user friendly feature makes it attractive for everyday use.
With the Salad Shooter shredding cheese and slicing veggies is almost like a marathon operation because it can be continuously run without any stop gap time. As the food chute is not wide enough, fruits like apple and veggies need to be cut into pieces first before introducing them into the pipe. Apart from this there is no other work and the best of all the sliced items comes out directly and can be collected straight into the salad bowl. There is no need to stir the cut veggies to ensure that they are properly sliced and the sharp blades take care of all this. It is definitely fast and I bet none of the food processors and the vegetable cutters can perform this fast.
True, that some amount of veggies is left behind, but then it occurs even with the sophisticated processor. This is not a problem because it is a Salad Shooter and whatever is left behind will get sliced along with the next batch of veggies and there is no issue of cross contamination because anyway all the veggies are going to get mixed in the bowl. As you feed the carrots and potato in the top and hit the power button, on the other end a heap would be formed in no time. This comes with two cones and one is for shredding where as the other one is for slicing and this needs to be changed according to the need. Chart supplied along with the Salad Shooter explains the kind of cone used for the particular type of veggie, fruit, cheese and this is very useful.
