There comes a day when many people who have reached their 50s, 60s or 70s - or even older- face the reality that a large home is no longer right for them. They may be too ill to stay at home or simply unable to handle home maintenance anymore. Others may worry about falling or have security and safety concerns. Still others may find friends and family gently urging them to consider downsizing or moving into a senior citizens' home or assisted living apartment complex.

When it comes to making this choice, there are a huge range of senior citizens' homes in Indianapolis, varying from those offering completely independent living to others who have medical personnel and rehabilitation services on site.

Here are some of the best senior citizens homes in the Indianapolis area:

Senior Citizens Homes in Indianapolis: Morningside of College Park

With over ten different floor plans, Morningside is an excellent residential living center for people who either live independently or need assisted living. We know some of the people who live here and it is located in a safe area with spacious floor plans and a cheery atmosphere.

There are options for both groups of people. Of course, some of the community members may start out living independently and then segue into assisted living. This can be done with a minimum of disruption and without having to undergo the emotional trauma of leaving Morningside after getting used to being there.

Prices range from $1810 a month to $3570 a month, depending on whether a studio apartment is adequate or whether a two bedroom and two bathroom apartment is desired. Meals, transportation, valet services and religious services are all available on site for no extra charge. Nurses and nurses' aides are on site 24 hours a day.

Special services available for an additional fee at Morningside senior citizens' home of Indianapolis:

Great information! After high school I worked in both a nursing home and an assisted living facility--trying to find my calling and nursing was not it. These sound like wonderful places. Over all, most residents prefer assisted living because you have peace of mind that help is just a call away and you are still allowed the freedom of being on your own. These options are good for those needing more care or assistance. However, I also did a stint with home health care. With that you stay in your own home. You are surrounded by familiarity and memories. For myself I would rather the home health route. Most patients I had also preferred being at home.
