Mike Huckabee's chances to be named John McCain's running mate on the Republican ticket are negligible, and certainly were not helped by his refusal to quit the Presidential primary race, where Huckabee continued to Christian-soldier on despite the impossibility of his being able to win the nomination. The refusal to quit against such long odds revealed Huckabee's character to be skewed towards fanaticism of the kind that mainstream voters are suspicious of, particularly among a born-again believing evangelical Christian such as Mike Huckabee.

The little-known Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, was the surprise of the Republican presidential nominating season. Quick-witted and funny, he shot to the head of the class among conservative contenders for the nomination, and ranked behind John McCain and Mitt Romney when the votes began to be tallied.

After the honeymoon period of the Huckabee candidacy wore off, voters began to perceive a different man than the one who had charmed reporters and the public after the initial Republican debates. Huckabee, on closer inspection, came across as glassy eyed and somewhat robotic. More importantly, his economic message was rooted in populism and was more appropriate to a Democrat than a 21st century Republican. He sounded more like John Edwards than Ronald Reagan.

Still, Mike Huckabee managed to "win" eight states during the first months of the Republican nominating season. Mike Huckabee's appeal was to the rock-ribbed, reactionary Christian evangelicals who have been a stalwart member of the Republican coalition since the Reagan Administration, the kind of person who believes that The Flintstones, in which Fred Flintstone & Barney Rubble cavort with dinosaurs, is a documentary, not entertainment. Huckabee tapped into the deep reservoir of Know-Nothingness that has been part of the American political scene for over 150 years. He was deeply disliked by mainstream Republican commentators, such as George Will.

You don't know miracles can happen when people repent and pray. Did you not see how Huckabee miraculously appeared pretty big in the scene from being a nobody?. We did not pray enough and we had other priorities o he got lost in the scene again. Now if mor e people start opening their eyes and see and listen to what OBAMA is really saying, if you are not yet awaken, you won't see. But if you sober up and analyse what he is saying, you are in for a very radical leader who will do anything to realize his ambition. He already trashed his 20 year mentor whose marxist ideas still flow in him, he also flipflopped just to get both sides of the vote. he will do anything and say anything to win . Visit hypemovie.com for a preview of this phenomenon. Do you really want him to be your president?. If you change ypur mind, help us get HUCHabee to help MCCain.

Huchabee provides a sharp contrast to Obama like no other. McCain will need him or he will drown in the tidal wave of the obama phenomenon. If you don't know what this phenomenon that is taking our country and the world is , go to hypemovie .com for a preview. If you love your country you should check this out before raving on the phenomenon of OBAMA. What is he really like? what is he really saying? Do not vote blindly. Do not vote just because somebody looks and sounds very presidential. Look at the person's history. look at his voting record. Look at who trained or inspired him for 20 years. Is he really proud of our country? Is he really seeing what's good about America? Is he with your values? On the other hand, there is a stark difference with McCain but the maverick label of McCain blurs the difference. He needs somebody to make a stark difference and make a stand on the Values that we hold dear. HuCHABEE is the only person and everybody knows him. The press does not like it.

jon,,,what kind of an condescending ass are you to say the things you said about christian republicans who favored Huckabe. And how about Hillary running until her toes were bleeding before she finally conceded to the other communist running on the democratic ticket, I suppose that was just running a good race.As for the mistake Huckabee made in pardoning a criminal who committed another crime later, have you checked out what the Clinton's pardoned in their last days in the white house?? I say what not who because they pardoned the most vile creatures on earth as their last act..You sir are a disgrace as an American and as a man in general.the poison you pen shows the truly shallow depth of your mind.Your kind never relate facts ,only innuendo and liable while hiding behind the first amendment's country may in fact make the mistake of electing a very dangerous man, barak obama. And you sir will be one of the first to suffer under his administration. But thats the way it always is.......

You are so out of touch with the American people that I feel sorry for you!! Mike Huckabee ran an admirable race and, McCain did EXACTLY the same thing Huckabee did. If you remeber, last summer McCain's campaign was looking dead in the water. No money, his own campaign manager and friend left him high and dry, Against all advise, McCain trudged on. And, lo and behold, he came back from the dead to win the nomination. Now, it's not lost on us out here, that Huckabee was insturmental in McCain getting where he is. If Huckabee hadn't stayed in the race to knock Romney (golden boy select) out, we might see a different scenerio. So, why would McCain begrudge Huckabee for staying in the race and playing by the rules set forth by our own party. He graciously conceded when it became apparent that McCain had won. Would we have the same respect for Huckabee had he quit. NO!!! It proved that, unlike Mitt, Huckabee is in the race for the right reason...the people. You may be right th

Bible believing Christian are a pretty dangrous sort alright: "you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength." This is the first commandment. And the second is like this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these." They are always putting themseves third, it's just not normal. What a dangrous bunch of folks they follow some who would say: "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

It really bothers me when someone sets themselves up as an authority that we should listen to, but has no understanding of the language we speak. This editorial has more gramatic flaws than Mike Huckabee has political ones.

It doesn't matter anyway if Huckabee isn't picked. With the backing Mccain has, he'll be lucky to be trailing in this years general election. With Huckabee, Mccain would at least have a chance. This is a lesson learned indeed.

I must protest your attacks on Christian voters, thinly veiled as a personal attack on Mike Huckabee. As a secular man, I am not simply a Evangelical commenting on your bigotry. Rather, I will point out some serious logical/factual flaws in your personal opinion piece. How is it that a man who is re-elected and serves as long as the law allows, and carries 60% of the primary vote in a race widely characterized as a Romney vs McCain battle at the time, disliked by his state? What are these "wins" you speak of, is there another standard you hold primaries too, aside from largest number of votes? Your characterization of Mr. Huckabee as a sore loser, unwilling to drop out, is patently untrue. From the beginning Huckabee vowed to stay the course, despite all odds. The thought that McCain looked down on Huckabee for refusing to drop out, when McCain himself faced that July Meltdown where many were writing him off as dead, is a hard pill for me to swallow. I am comforted that, despit

Who is the one that is a bigot now ? Its obvious that you your a Romney supporter, only one of them would have been caustic enough to write a hit-piece on Huckabee. I get so tired of hypocrites calling us evangelicals (yes, I'm one of those "evil" evangelicals) extremists, bigot, hate-filled whackjobs, when it is so obvious that these hypocrites need to look in the mirror. I can guarentee you, if McCain (I don't think he will but...) chooses to side with Romney, and the greedy financial wing of the GOP, the Republicans better get used to being in the minority. Blow us social-conservatives off at your own peril.

This hit piece is typical for people who hate evangelical christians, and it's quite obvious why Jon is such a hater the man has been on the Romney Kool-Aid for quite some time now. As an evangelical myself I can say without hesitation that McCain does not have my vote and neither does the Republican Party this year. If the Republican Party wants to let people like slick Mitt and the club for greed run the party go for it, hopefully they get use to being in the minority. It is my sincere hope that McCain selects flip flop Mitt as his running mate, nothing would make me happier than to see both of them go down in defeat this November. So please keep your hateful ways up Jon because all you do is fan the flames of passion for people like myself to work harder and give more to people like Governor Huckabee.

What I don't understand is how Conservatives cannot see that Romney or Huckabee are not acceptable on the ticket as the VP for the same reason neither would have been a winning Rep. nominee - because of their religious histories. Romney is unelectable because many feel Mormonism is cult like, and Huckabee because he is a former Baptist minister. Regardless of how one personally feels about these two men and their religions, to the general electorate both are deal breakers in the general election. So, unless ya want to pull for a losing ticket the requirements of the general election require a more "mainstream" Republican as VP. Not too old, not too conservative and not too much religious baggage. In the general we must appeal to the broader base of the electorate, or it's a nutty Lefty in the White House. Yuck!!!!

Looks like you really didn't know the subject of your article. I'd suggest a long conversation with Mike Huckabee, himself, before doing so again. The article looks like more of an Op Ed piece based upon your own personal, though misguided opinion.
