I am already making my own granola, I make a Honey Walnut Granola, and have often contemplated making some granola bars for some quick snacks to have around the house. One thing that I like in granola bars is when they have a layer of yogurt on them, I am not sure how healthy they are for you but taste wise I think that they are very good. Normally I don't have yogurt granola bars on hand but the other day they were on sale, a very good sale, and so I got a box of Nature Valley Yogurt Granola Bars.

It was a variety pack and came with three different flavors of granola bars, vanilla yogurt, blueberry yogurt and strawberry yogurt. The box has only six bars, two of each kind of flavor, so really it isn't going to last you any more than a week. While on sale it was 2 dollars, making it a little more than 33 cents per bar. The first thing that I noticed about these granola bars were that they have 20% of the calcium that you need in a day, a cup of milk tends to have 25%. This is probably my favorite thing about these granola bars or maybe it is tied with how they taste.

The vanilla yogurt granola bar is amazingly not overly sweet. I don't really have a sweet tooth and don't want my granola bars to be like a candy bar. I didn't have any complaints about the vanilla yogurt bar and thought that it was sweet but not too sweet. I imagined that the blueberry yogurt granola bar would have a subtle taste but again I was surprised and found the blueberry taste to be both very present and very pleasant. As for the strawberry yogurt bar I should start off by saying that I love strawberries, I am counting down the days until I will see an organic package of them in the stores on sale. This being said you can imagine that I had high expectations for the strawberry yogurt bar. Happily I thought that they had a very nice strawberry taste to them.

I buy these fairly often since both me and my kids really enjoy them. Unfortunately, I had a vanilla one this morning and it had a small, black rock in it about the size of a popcorn kernel. Luckily, I got it and not one of my kids. It could have broken a tooth.

I have avoided these because of the partially hydrogenated oil in them but they sound like they're really tasty from your review. Well done!
