Cascadian Farms Frozen Broccoli Cuts and Broccoli Florets Review
As much as I wish I could say that I always buy fresh organic broccoli I have to admit that it is frozen broccoli that I have in the house. It isn't something that I am particularly fond of but I find it works for me right now because I don't have to keep track of the broccoli and make
sure that I use it up in a timely manner. Since it is frozen in my freezer I can just pull it out when I need it and if that is several days from the next time that I use it that isn't a problem. Even though I am currently using frozen broccoli I make sure that the broccoli that I have on is organic, Cascadian Farms is the brand of frozen broccoli that I use.
I have bought both the Cascadian Farms Frozen Broccoli Cuts and the Cascadian Farms Broccoli Florets. Basically the florets are the tops of the vegetable and cuts just means everything. I can find a 10 oz bag of frozen broccoli florets for $1.66 and a 16 oz bag of frozen broccoli cuts for $1.96. Clearly you get more broccoli per dollar with the broccoli cuts. I always try to do my best to save money but nutrition is equally important to me. Not surprisingly the nutrition facts of both the frozen broccoli cuts and frozen broccoli florets are identical, although the ingredients for the florets list organic broccoli and the cuts list broccoli cuts. So getting the cheaper of the two does not mean that I have to sacrifice any nutrition.
As far as taste goes for both the Cascadian Farms Frozen Broccoli Cuts and the Cascadian Farms Broccoli Florets they both taste great, identical tasting really for obvious reasons. They are always a wonderful and healthy shade of green and last for many, many months. The one downside that I think that they have is only that they are not grown more locally. I am always thrilled when I find a food product that is grown in Washington, the state where I live, but these are grown in Mexico so they have quite a ways to travel.
