Senior Citizen Activity Centers in Renton

Many people in the Renton area have walked past the Renton Senior Activity Center. It's located on the Cedar River hiking trail and many senior citizens take advantage of its easy to walk on surface and access to playgrounds for grandchildren.

The address is 211 Burnett Avenue North, Renton WA 98057.

Renton's Senior Activity Center is openMonday through Friday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.

The location is quite scenic with ducks, salmon, eagles, and other wildlife and pretty gardens. It's near to a number of condiminium and senior apartments, and just a few blocks from the Metro bus station. It's across the street from Renton Stadium where they have a small set of exercise stations along the trail. Park benches are also provided. Down the river, roughly an hour walk past the library, the main Recreation Center for Renton is located at Carco Park, you must cross the street at a well-marked crosswalk and walk under I-405. The trail continues in both directions for several miles total. We've always registered for classes we've taken at the Senior Center at Carco Park.

My husband and I first used some of the services provided at the Senior Citizen Activity Center in Renton when we signed up for a Tai Chi class. The class was located in a small gymnasium with a wooden floor. The offer a number of classes suitable for seniors and others including dancing, stretching and, of course, the Tai Chi class. Our instructor also offered a golf stretch class. During the class we had access to the bathrooms. In the center of the entrance, the Renton Senior Activity center has an information area describing their many programs.

Other programs offered are shown on a Golden Opportunities brochure that you can order. Activities include Tuesday outings that are bus trips to local casinos, malls, and tours of areas. Art programs are offered on site.
