Lefkos Hajji Watches His Engagement Ring Literally Vanish into Thin Air

Proposing to the one you love is never an easy thing for people to do. Finding just the right words or the most unique way of proposing can be tricky.

Lefkos Hajji, a floor fitter from Hackney, East London, England thought he had it right when he decided to spend £6000 ($12000) pounds on a beautiful diamond engagement ring for his girlfriend, according to Reuters.

He had the place he planned to propose to his girlfriend Leanne all picked out with their family surrounding them. He even came up with the unique idea of getting a dozen balloons filled with helium and letting his girlfriend go at them with a pin as he popped the question.

The jeweler put the ring he just picked out inside one of the balloons. Everything seemed absolutely perfect.

But there was one thing Hajji didn't plan on.

Last week had been an especially cold and windy week in London, and as Lefkos walked out of the jewelry shop the jeweler commented to him he had better hold onto the balloons tight or they might blow away. And as luck would have it as he walked out of the jewelry shop a rather strong gust of wind came down and took the balloons, and Leanne's engagement ring up in the air high over the streets of London.

Lefkos, immediately panicked and jumped into his car to try and follow the balloons in the hopes of catching up to them if they got caught in a tree or deflated somewhere. But all he could do is watch from his car as the balloons, and his expensive ring, soared higher and higher into the sky and after 2 hours of frantic searching Lefkos finally gave up on trying to find the ring.

Lefkos immediately knew his girlfriend was going to be very angry at him when he told her what happened to her engagement ring, and he was right. Leanne has reportedly stopped talking to Lefkos until he replaces her ring and finds another way of giving her the ultimate proposal.
