The Boston Red Sox entered the American League in 1901 and were known as the Boston Americans until 1908. During their history they have had many great moments. Here is a look at the ten greatest moments in Boston Red Sox history.

October 13, 1903. Boston wins the first World Series by defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-0. The Boston Americans, as they were know at the time, won the series 5 games to 3. The World Series was a best of 9 in 1903. In the decisive game Bill Dinneen pitches a complete game 4 hitter. Hobe Ferris singles home two runs in the 4th inning to give Boston the lead for good.

October 16,1912. The Boston Red Sox win their second World Championship by defeating the New York Giants 3-2 in the 8th game of World Series. The Giants took a one run lead in the top of the 10th inning, but the Red Sox rally to score 2 runs in the bottom of the inning to win the game. Larry Gardner drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly. Joe Wood was the winning pitcher.

October 13, 1915. The Boston Red Sox win their third World Championship by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4. They win the World Series 4 games to 1. Rube Foster pitched a compete game for the win. Harry Hooper hit two home runs, he hits his second home run in the top of the ninth inning to give the Red Sox the lead.

October 12, 1916. The Red Sox win their 2nd consecutive World Championship and 4th in team history when they defeat the Brooklyn Robins 4-1. They win the 1916 World Series 4 games to 1. Ernie Shore pitches a complete game for the win

September 11, 1918. The Red Sox win their 5th World Championship and 3rd in 4 years by defeating the Chicago Cubs 2-1. They win the World Series 4 games to 2. Carl Mays pitches a complete game for the win.

September 13, 1946. The Boston Red Sox win their first American League Pennant since 1918. They defeat the Cleveland Indians 1-0. The only run of the game comes courtesy of an inside the park home run by Ted Williams. It is his only career inside the park home run.
