Rocko is an Atlanta, Georgia-based rapper. He might be most known for his relationship with R&B singer Monica. However, now Rocko is prepared to drop his solo debut album, Self Made. Will Rocko be able to capitalize off the success of his chart-topping single, Umma Do Me to release a classic album? The first single off of Self Made is the infectious Drumma Boy produced Umma Do Me. The track is a solid hip hop track and has been growing in popularity over the past several months. The song is one of the best tracks on the album.
The second single off of Self Made is Tomorrow. The song is also produced by Drumma Boy. The song is catchy and features a positive moment of living each day like it is your last.
Hustle Fo features The Inc's R&B crooner Lloyd. The song is another very solid track. The song features a very catchy beat and a solid chorus from Lloyd.
Thugs Need Love Too features Rocko's fiancée R&B singer Monica. The song has an added attraction because it features a couple in an actual relationship together on the track. The song is solid and heartfelt.
She Can Get It is produced by Cool & Dre and features Dre on the chorus. The song features a solid beat however Dre's vocals bring the song down.
Old Skool is a track that will appeal to the streets. The song features another beat produced by Drumma Boy and the track has an epic appeal to it.
Busy is yet another track produced by Drumma Boy. The track like Old Skool has an epic appeal to it and a simplistic yet catchy chorus.
Meal is another harder sounding track on the album featuring a moving organ melody on the track. The song is not one of the best tracks on the album but it is still solid.
The album closes with Karma. The track is one of the more commercial friendly efforts on the album. The song shows off Rocko's skills as a lyricist.
Self Made is a better-than-expected debut album. The album is stronger than a lot of rappers' debut efforts. The album also features a high level of cohesion due to the bulk of the effort by one producer. Self Made gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of Rocko's, make sure you pick up Self Made.
