Modern Views on Child Discipline: Is Spanking Still Okay?

We've all did it. We've all had it done to us. A swat, a pat, a smack, a spank. Is spanking still okay? The best advice I can give on this, being a mother of two, does the time (punishment)fit the crime? If you have ever had a two year old and up, you know reasoning, redirection, time outs and yelling sometimes don't work. There's a million different views and different interpretations on the word spanking. Spanking in this article means an open hand landing on the buttocks with force one time. After redirection of my two year old more than three times, and in the same incident who also seems to be deaf if he does something and you say no, if it's something that will hurt him I have spanked one time to get his attention. Most two year olds want attention, so if you play with them they listen for that moment. Once you get up to fix food or do dishes, then it's another story.

Did You Know?
I don't know if modern discipline works all the time but I certainly wouldn't have spanked her for whatever she did. It wasn't anything that would have hurt her or anyone else, it was just disruptive.
