To get started you want to measure your business cards. Most people have cards that are about 2 inches tall and 3 inches wide. The half card sized business card is quickly becoming popular, so you will need to adjust the sizing if you use those.
Now, cut out a piece of fabric to 4 inches wide and 7 inches tall. Basically, take how wide your cards are and add 1 full inch. Take how tall your cards are and multiply by 3. Add on 1 inch. This is how large you will need your fabric to be.
Cut out one piece this size from the exterior fabric and one piece of interior fabric to start the business card holder pattern. To make the business card holder pattern more firm, I recommend using a fusible interfacing ironed on to the back of the exterior fabric. You can also ways use a nice medium weigh fabric like canvas as well.
To get started you want to lay out your interior fabric pattern side up. Fold it in half length wise. Mark 2 inches below the top and cut the top to round it off in a half circle. Open and trace onto he exterior fabric to create matching pieces of the pattern.
This will be the flap on the top of the business card holder pattern.
Now, take your small piece of Velcro, you want to use the smooth side to attach to the flap. Cut this down to a 1 inch piece.
Lay the interior fabric face up o the table. Measure 1 inch below the top and lay the Velcro in place. Sew on with your machine.
Now, fold the length of fabric up from the bottom. Measure up 2 inches from the bottom and fold up. Fold the top flap down and, ark where the Velcro hits. Mark the middle of the Velcro Square. Measure 3/8's inch down and center the other piece of Velcro in this location on the exterior fabric.
