Ok so I admit 'rigged' may be a strong word for the finale of Gone Country, the celebrity wannabe country singer show on CMT. But in the end John Rich picked Julio Iglesias as the winner of the show, meaning JR will produce Julio's first country song and mass produce it out in the world of country. The reason I say the show was kind of predetermined on would win is a simple statement that John Rich, the host and person choosing the winner, said on I think the very first episode. He simply said something like this: "Julio, the Country Industry has been looking for a latin singer for a long time so you may just be it". Right then and there I figured Julio Iglesias might very well win no matter how well he does. It's obvious JR wanted something more then just a good singer and good song, he wanted to find someone to bring into the country music realm as a 'latin artist'.

I mean sure Julio wasn't THAT bad in his final performance but well he wasn't the best. There were a ton of people far more better then him such as Bobby Brown, Diana DeGarmo and even Carnie Wilson were better then Julio. I just rewatched his performance again and simply it sucked compared to the others. He isn't a natural English speaker and that showed in his performance. It wasn't clean, it wasn't precise and it just didn't sound country. I honestly don't feel the right person won the show and other factors were taken into consideration over singing and song choice. I'm sad such a fun and watchable show ended in such a sucky and rather 'rigged' way but let's hope if they do have another season, they pick the BEST singer, not the best person who will fit a mold that is already premade for them.
