Brett Favre: Before the NFL and Beyond the Jersey

To many fans, Brett Favre is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Brett is also one of those quarterbacks who have turned his career into being an inspiration to younger quarterbacks that are new to the NFL. By now most quarterbacks at his age would most likely consider retiring, although Brett is still in the game. He also had good statistics at the end of the last season.

But who is Brett beyond the jersey? What made him want to play football? Why does he show such determination and dedication to his team the Green Bay Packers and the game in general? Doing a bit of research we think we have come up with some of the answers to these questions.

Brett, who was born in a small town, with no stop lights, and no paved roads in Mississippi, dreamed of greatness even as a young boy. Brett has had 157 career starts in the NFL. He is known to many as one of the toughest quarterbacks in the NFL, and for good reason.

It started with his father, putting it into Brett's mind of being both mentally tough as well as physically tough. For several reasons when you think about it, this is why Brett is able to endure hit after hit and not miss a game. His philosophy, father's words, and the way he grew up created the quarterback we have all grown to love.

When Brett was only four years old his toughness soon began. While playing baseball he was hit in the head with a baseball bat. Brett did not even cry, and his tough mentality grew with a sensitive emotional backdrop. A rare combination don't you think? As time went on Brett went from playing baseball in little league to football in high school. And, how could he possibly not considering his father was the football coach. It was all the Favre's ever talked about according to friends. Brett played several different positions in high school football.
