Should the Media Glorify Prostitutes like Ashley Alexander Dupre? Not on My Watch!

If you haven't heard about the case involving ex-governer Spitzer and the 22 year old young lady, Ashley Alexander Dupre, that he hired for $4000 an hour for an extra marital romp in the hay, where in the heck have you been? That story has made national news and you hear about it just
about everywhere you go. In fact, you can't even turn on the flipping radio or television and not hear the latest news about Ms. Dupre. Due to constant media exposure, we now know that Ms. Dupre is a wannabe singer, has a MySpace page that was taken down because of too much traffic, recently broke up with her boyfriend, has been experiencing emotional stress since her story became public, is considering suing for a violation of her federal rights for the media's publishing of certain risqué pictures, has made $200,000 from people downloading her What We Want song online, and has now been offered 1 million dollars to show it all to Hustler magazine. That's right 1 million big ones.

Now, don't get me wrong, this is not a gripe about this woman as a person. Heck, I don't even know Ms. Dupre or the circumstances that lead her to this career choice. What I do know is that the media has glorified this case and I'm sick and tired of it. In fact, the Daily News of New York and the New York Post even went as far as to publish revealing pictures of this girl in an effort to report top news. The heading read "Bad Girl" I mean this is absurd. This is NOT news and it certainly isn't news to post a picture of a semi topless girl (hands covering breasts) involved in a prostitution ring for everyone to see.
