There has been a lot of talk about the concept of self fulfilling prophecy lately. The Oprah Show, for example, talked about the use of vision boards to help attract a destiny that you wanted for your life. The concept of self fulfilling prophecy is not a new one, and in fact it has been used throughout history, either intentionally or unintentionally, to shape some of the most memorable destinies of history.

What is Self Fulfilling Prophecy?

Self fulfilling prophecies are basically predictions that are made about your future that are then fulfilled based on conscious and subconscious steps taken by you. Some people feel that self fulfilling prophecies are spiritual guided while others feel that they have a rational base. In reality, the fulfillment of a self fulfilling prophecy is most likely caused by a little bit of both.

How Self Fulfilling Prophecy Works

Self fulfilling prophecies start by focusing in on the specifics of a future event. For example, you may want to find the love of your life or buy a house. When you identify your goal or focal point, you need to create a physical representation of that item and post it somewhere where you can see it during the day. You can create a vision board, you can use a magnet to hold a picture of the item you want on your refrigerator, or you can use Post Its® to hang your goals around your work station.

After selecting a focus for your self fulfilling prophecy, the next step is to focus your energy on obtaining that goal or claiming the focal point of your prophecy. By focusing your energy on a single focal point, your senses are going to start identifying key elements that you need to guide you towards that focal point. An example given on the Oprah Show was that if you say the word "blue" several times in a row, your eyes naturally start to identify items with the color blue in them. This step is basically giving your brain instructions on what it needs to look for.

I'm going to start posting notes over the house that says 'you will learn to fly and develop telekinesis'.

It may be a good start, but only a proactive approach to life will bring you success. It sounds like another version of the secret: wish it and it will happen. JMHO, of course I don't play the lottery either. I believe in hard work over luck.

someone was telling me about this that they saw on oprah - we actually put up a large bulletin board over a window in our home & started putting things on it...they asked us if we saw oprah but we hadn't...was just our way of covering up an ugly window that let it too much cold air :) thanks for explaining this to me - might have to try some of this :)
