Packing for a Trip to Puerto Rico

Are you planning a trip to Puerto Rico? Aside from the obvious camera, here is a guide to help you as you pack for your trip to the enchanting island.First of all, you must remember where Puerto Rico is. It is a small island located in the Caribbean. This means that it is relatively warm all year round. That being said, you can forget all of the jackets and heavy clothes. You should consider a small sweatshirt that you can bring with you to restaurants. Occasionally, the air-conditioning in the restaurants is a little too cool. Usually, this is only because they are trying to help out the tourists that are not used to such warm weather.
As you pack for the trip, consider what you will be doing. Are you going to the beach? Definitely remember your sunscreen. The sun down there is very intense, so it is very important to protect your skin. Obviously, you will need your swimming suits. Many of the hotels provide towels for the beach, but you may want to bring your own. If you forget a swimming suit or towel don't worry. There are numerous shops, especially in tourist area, that sell these types of things.
Most likely your whole trip will not be spent at the beach. You will want to get out and explore the island, including Old San Juan and El Yunque. These trips require some walking, so bring several good pairs of shoes. I say several because you may want to switch them out. Because it is going to be hot, try to bring lightweight clothing.
You should also realize that in Puerto Rico people dress nicely when eating out, regardless of the restaurant. They even dress well when going to the grocery store. This does not mean that people wear formal wear, but they do dress well. Some people wear jeans when going out, but they are paired with dressier tops. You will very rarely see a woman wearing a t-shirt. So, as you pack, choose outfits for day time wear and night time wear.
You should also consider a rain poncho. It does not have to be anything too spectacular, but it does rain in Puerto Rico, just like anywhere else. If you bring your poncho you can put it on during the rain and continue exploring the island. Again, if you forget one it will be for sale.
