IRS Has Released the Schedule for Sending Out the Economic Stimulus Payments

Wondering when your Economic Stimulus Payment check will arrive in the mail? Today the IRS released the schedule for when they will send out the 130 million Economic Stimulus Payments.

The Economic Stimulus Payments will be sent out in the order of the last two digits of your Social Security number. On a jointly filed return, the first Social Security number listed will determine the mail-out time.

Taxpayers who chose the direct deposit option on their 2007 Federal Income Tax return will receive their Economic Stimulus Payments before those who have chosen to have their tax refund mailed to them.

If the IRS has received your 2007 tax return by April 15, 2008, you can expect your Stimulus Payment to be sent out in the following order:

Those who chose direct deposit and their Social Security number ends in:

00-20: Will have their payment deposited May 2
21-75: Will have their payment deposited May 9
76-99: Will have their payment deposited May 16

If you chose to have your tax refund mailed to you, and your Social Security number ends in:

00-09: Your check will be mailed on May 16
10-18: Your check will be mailed on May 23
19-25: Your check will be mailed on May 30
26-38: Your check will be mailed on June 6
39-51: Your check will be mailed on June 13
52-63: Your check will be mailed on June 20
64-75: Your check will be mailed on June 27
76-87: Your check will be mailed on July 4
88-99: Your check will be mailed on July 11

A small percentage of tax returns will require additional time to process.

Because the IRS will be using your Social Security number to determine when checks are mailed, taxpayers will probably receive their checks at different times than their neighbors or other family members.

If you have not filed your tax return by April 15, 2008, the IRS will continue sending out weekly payments. You can expect to receive your Stimulus Payment in about two weeks after receiving your 2007 tax refund.
