Blogit.com has a special place in my heart. I subscribed to this blogging service more than two years ago and had a lot of adventures while blogging. I met the man I would get married to and blogged about it. I started preparing my wedding and I blogged about it. Now that I am married and a bit more busy, I blog less but it is still comforting to know there is a community of bloggers out there that sort of "know me" and that I can go back any time I want and blog.

Sentimentality aside, there are lots of pros and cons with this Blogging service and as someone who is a veteran Blogit member, I shall review them.

Price:

Truly the price to blog in this community is a bit steep. Ok, a lot steep. Yes, you can earn money while you blog, but it will certainly not pay the bills. Probably not even one. Very few Blogit members blog enough to cover their subscription fees, especially since the prices were raised. Here is a list of the three packages they offer:

Blogit Gold
Read hundreds of thousands of posts and comments, and publish up to five blogs (online columns). Includes 100 photos, advanced control over layout and style, and five member pictures.
Cost: $15.95/month (if purchased as a 12-month subscription) or $19.95 per month.

Blogit Silver
Full access to hundreds of thousands of posts and comments. Publish up to three blogs (online columns). Includes 50 photos, easy-to-use layout and style choices, and three member pictures.
Cost: $12.95/month (if purchased as a 12-month subscription) or $15.95 per month.

Blogit Basic
Everything you need to get started reading and writing. Read hundreds of thousands of posts and comments, leave comments on the blogs you read, and publish your own blog (online column) and one member picture.
Cost: $9.95/month (if purchased as a 12-month subscription) or $12.95 per month.

The bad thing about the Blogit Basic is that you can only create one blog, but for most this is enough. You can always post your pics in a free photo service like www.photobucket.com and then insert them in your blog, so the whole photo thing is not all that necessary.

Takeaways
  • After the price raise, being a member is a bit expensive
  • You can earn money, but you must be quite a dedicated blogger to do so
  • The website's design is very clean and functional
