Is Kristin Davis on a Sex Tape?

Just when I thought that Kristin Davis was the "nice girl next door" of the Sex in the City gang, there are rumors on celebrity websites claiming that a sex-tape of the actress and her former boyfriend Bob Ross is soon to surface. While I claim nothing more than a late night passing interest with the show, which is now on reruns, I have watched enough of it to have bet such a rumor would have accompanied one of the other girls on the show, and not the girl cast as Charlotte York.

To be fair, Davis, through her representative, has denied that she is the sexy brunette featured on the racy pictures (approximately 20 of them) making their way through cyberspace at a phenomenal pace. The pictures are said to bare a striking resemblance to the actress. The pictures are fueling rumors of a sex-tape that is soon to be released.

While this certainly will not be the first nor last time that a celebrity gets caught in a rumored compromising position on a sex tape -- Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson and Vivica Fox come to mind -- it appears that this time the rumor coincides with publicity for the new "Sex in the City" movie set to be released. Whether deliberate or not, the rumor will add to the buzz for the film.

How the 43-year-old Davis fares after that remains to be seen. Some of the celebrities that have had such scandals in the past are not actresses that would fit into the 'soccer mom' type of imagine that Davis, in part, retains. Nor do actresses (or perhaps wannabe actresses) like Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton, come with the credible acting credentials that Davis has. In the long run, the buzz generated by this type of scandal can completely backfire on a more serious actress, and she could lose plumb roles for it.
