Here are a few great ones to get your started on your way to gas savings.
Keep your car in top condition. Maintain all fluid levels and check them regularly. Check tire inflation regularly also and keep tires inflated at proper inflation levels at all time.
Warm your car up only for a few moments before driving. A few minutes is generally plenty of time to get your car's engine up and going. Start your car and then scrape snow or ice in the winter months. When you are done scraping, get in and go.
Keep your windows up even when going down the highway. This prevents the "wind drag" that can slow your car down thus making you press that accelerator and use more of your precious fuel.
Do you ski in the winter? Remove those ski racks in the summer. The same goes for luggage racks that are not being used and bicycle racks. Removing excess racks can help economize your precious fuel by again stopping the wind drag.
Avoid excessive stopping and going. If you can plan your route around traffic lights or stop signs, by all means do so. This will save on the sudden surge to your fuel economy.
Drive at a steady pace. If you have a cruise control, use it when ever possible to maintain your speed. Every time you speed up, slow down, and speed up again your are using more gas.
Plan your route accordingly. If you have several stops to make set yourself up a route ahead of time. Avoid doubling back where you have been whenever possible to reduce your travel distance.
Try car pooling when ever you can. If several of your friends, family or neighbors are all going to the same area, car pool. Enjoy some good conversation and save money at the same time.
Check on the internet for the lowest gas prices in your area before you fill up. Watch local gas stations and learn what day they change their prices. Often you will find it is on a Friday morning just before the weekend. Every area is different so watch the trend for your local area.
Do you drive a gas guzzler? Perhaps its time to trade in your gas guzzler and get something with a better fuel economy rating.
