The overlooked movie gem is both a pleasurable and frustrating for the movie lover. Pleasurable because you are watching a terrific movie unfold before your eyes taking you through an unsuspected flurry of emotions responding to what the filmmaker has intended. When the movie is over your immediate reaction is to run out and tell everyone you know that they must see this movie. Frustrating because very few people go to see these movies that have elicited such a strong response from you and end up disappearing with little fanfare in a few short weeks. These are the same movies that, when mentioned, get you a response of blank faces from people who have never heard of these movies and wonder why it sounds good but never played at the local theater even though it did.

All movie lovers have lists of movies they love or just want to share with others that very few have seen. These movies, for whatever reason, did poorly at the box office and many of them rarely, if ever, get playtime on television.

The following is a list of 25 movies I feel are worth a look. These are all movies that I feel are worth seeking out at your local video store though some of them may be hard to find. Each of these movies never found the audience they should have when they were first released even though they may have been more successful on video. Movie buffs will no doubt know all these movies but the casual fan may not. Not all of these films may be suited to your tastes but they are all worth finding and I envy your opportunity to see them for the first time. The list is in alphabetical order only and not by date or preference. If anyone out there takes me up on any of these titles I would love to hear from you to tell me your thoughts.

Takeaways
  • All 25 movies have something for everyone.
  • Search out and find these movies to watch.
  • I envy your opportunity to watch these movies for the first time.
Did You Know?
All movie lovers have a list like mine for people who don't go to movies often enough.

thanks for the suggestions of gems....I guess I really need to expand my movie viewing. Absolutely LOVED The Last of Sheila when I first saw it years and years ago.
