Janet Jackson just released her latest effort Discipline. Debuting as her sixth No. 1 album on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart, she proved she's still got what it takes to be on top. However, she's taking a slight fall in performance, now sitting at No. 3 after a more than 65% decrease in sales. Her record only sold 55,000 copies.

Alan Jackson returns with his new record Good Time. The country album debuts at No. 1, making this his fourth record to do so. The set moved a solid 120,000 copies in the U.S. market. His last record only debuted at No. 4 on the Top 200. Jackson also proves he's still going strong in the country world as his single "Small Town Southern Man" continues to go for the top of the Hot Country songs.

After a three week reign at No. 1 before falling down under Janet Jackson, Jack Johnson remains at No. 2 on the chart. His collection of songs, Sleep Through The Static, sells nearly 70,000 copies in a slow selling time of year.

Singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles is slowly making her way to the top of the chart. Due to the success of her hit single "Love Song," a VH1 You Oughta Know artist and a Rhapsody promotion, her album Little Voice climbs up a few more spots to No. 7 after selling more than 40,000 copies in the U.S. The next song to be released as a single is "Bottle It Up," which is also featured on the same Rhapsody commercial. Fans of the pianist can catch her on tour with James Blunt through April. "Love Song" also continues to climb the Hot 100 (radio airplay, digital downloads and on-demand streams make up the formula). Moving up yet another spot, she sits at No. 4.

Alicia Keys may have hit a bump in the road. Her album As I Am has been wildly successful since it's November 13th debut, beating out Celine Dion's Taking Chances to debut at No. 1. Since then she's sold millions of copies and topped a handful of Billboard charts, including the Top 200, Top R&B Albums, and Hot 100. This week she slips to No. 8, moving 40,000 copies. Both her singles "No One" and "Like You'll Never See Me Again" remain in the Top 20 on the Hot 100 chart.

I like Janet's older songs from the 1980s but I must say I am a much bigger fan of Alan Jackson...
